With a plethora of local castles dating back to Roman and Norman times, Medieval Rye and Edwardian Bexhill-on-Sea, there is plenty to see.
Heading East along the coast is the seaside town of Eastbourne, with the spectacular, iconic chalk cliffs of Beachy Head and the Seven Sisters. Eastbourne seafront is the venue for the spectacular Airbourne air show each year in August.
If you wish to experience culture and mix it with great shopping, history and nightlife then visit the cosmopolitan city of Brighton. With hundreds of restaurants to tickle your tastebuds, fashion boutiques to test your resolve and landmarks such as the Royal Pavilion and Brighton Beach, it really does offer something for everyone.
If you are interested in architecture then head West, and inland, to historic Arundel. With its beautiful medieval castle, gothic cathedral and wonderful landscapes and views over the river Arun and the South Downs, it has become a popular destination for photographers. The nearby Roman city of Chichester, with its striking 12th century cathedral, is well worth a visit. With its harbour, art gallery and prestigious Chichester Festival Theatre, you won't be short of things to see and do.

Sussex is approximately one hour from London by train or car and within close range of Gatwick Airport and the Channel port of Newhaven.
